The parcels outlined in green belong to the CBDT, and the parcel outlined in blue belongs to the city, but will be developed by the CBDT. The area in red is the White Pine Trail. Gala Kicks Off Efforts To Raise Funds For Library

Cedar Springs is hoping to open a new library, exactly 80 years after the local library got its official start. The fundraising campaign took a big jump last week at a gala where plans for a new facility were unveiled. "It was amazing," said Cedar Springs librarian Donna Clark. "Over $25,200 came in in cash and checks and another $38,000 was pledged. It was really something." The event, which was held at the American Legion Hall, attracted more than 100 residents, boasted entertainment from a young musician from the Piano Cottage, and touted plans for a 9,998-square-foot building with covered entryway, outdoor patio, display cases, drive-through book deposit, kitchen, and space for tutoring, classrooms,and meetings. Community Building Development Team Begins Area Clean-up On Newly Acquired Land

Clean-up along the White Pine Trail and previous storage area belonging to Tony Johnson Lumber at the west end of Maple Street began on a very cold and windy January 10th when a bunch of “supermen” from the area got to work. Nick Andres, Kurt Mabie, and Dave Ringler from the Community Building Development Team pulled the event together. The West Michigan Hawks, a semi-pro football team in the Minor League Football Alliance league and based in Cedar Springs, brought 10 of their finest guys to help out. Several other men from the community came along for a total of nearly 20 guys, wielding chain saws and basic brawn to cut down trees and brush. By Judy Reed – Published in the Cedar Springs Post – October 17, 2014 There are a lot of plans in the works for the corner of Main and Maple Streets and the Community Building Development Team (CBDT) hopes to be a big part of it. In addition to the new Cedar Springs Library, on the northwest corner, and the brewery on the southwest corner, the CBDT hopes to build an amphitheatre on the city’s property (the old foundry property) to the west of where the library will be.
